Most of my life I've been depressed A miserable son of a bitch But long have I known I could get some relief Simply by flipping a switch WVOG... Even when I've just been thrown down Radio's on in my room Ronson and Keith and Chuck Berry and Pete I heard my first sonic boom WVOG ... Somebody's listening to me Sound waves, signals, radio waves Signals, sound waves, radio plays WVOG... Somewhere in the nation out there in creation Somebody's listening to me WVOG ... Somebody's listening to me Sound waves, signals, radio waves Radio signals, sound wave plays WVOG ... Somebody's listening to me

I've been working all day long I've been breaking my back To feed your greed and pay your rent I've been working all day long I say my prayers to passing trains I set out burning candles for the saints Old Crow, won't you teach me how to fly So I can ride them rails in the pale moonlight You got yourself a whore You broke me down, deceive and mistreat me Make me bow, make me smile You got yourself a whore I can't be your woman no more I can't be no cupcake baking, shit taking, baby making I can't be your woman no more

Drive to Cincinnati. Drink a natty daddy. Go to the show. No one will know that you don't know anyone or anything but stupid things that make me feel anything. I'll feel anything at least once. I don't mind not knowing anyone. What is an adventure if you meet what is expected? It's just doing the same thing again.

Equilibrium. We have everything we need to have Fun at your expense. Ignore what not-so-subtleties suggest. Analyze ink blot. You are everything you say you're not. Light the gas drenched lot. The apples perfume the room as they rot. When you lose the plot, Find character tangled in cliche. Lonely at the top. Race to the bottom and blame the winner.

about

This is the second Dry Birth compilation, the follow up to Crippled by Gout. We've come a long way in a short time. Crippled by Gout was essentially 10 different musicians in five different bands putting out an album with two songs per band.

Health Risks of High Heals comes in the wake of U.S. Nero's first Northeast tour, an event characterized by hyper tension feeling our way around a dark wilderness. But it also expanded our reach. We met Flemington New Jersey's PA Angelo and Columbus, Ohio's Farseek who contributed tracks. Other New Orleans bands took notice, and we managed to get tracks contributed from Metatron Sic Hop, Scarecrow Sonic Boombox, Hot Tooth, and Pretty Party. Dang Bruh Y and Merkabah both deserve special mentions for the enthusiasm they've shown for the label and the scene and their countless contributions, from their music to their outreach. But more than anything, their conviction that Dry Birth Records needs to happen and deserves to happen, and their continued positivity in the face of difficult odds.

The odds have often been against this album coming to fruition. Relationships were severed. Bands broke up and were rearranged. Guitarists and lead vocalists are no longer speaking to each other. Drummers and band leaders had similar fallings out. But this is the way of the world. Dry Birth as a label maintains its commitment to staying focused on the big picture, and the result is this album. The contributors are from all walks of life. They're black. They're white. They're straight. They're gay. They're young. They're old. They're social butterflies. They're introverted recluses. They're workaholics. They're lazy. They're teachers, construction workers, waiters, and bartenders. They're blowing their family's money on drugs. There isn't a familiar life story or social dynamic that hasn't transpired in this album's construction.

In spite of all these differences-- or perhaps because of it-- Health Risks of High Heals exists. And there isn't an artist represented here who values anything in life more than their music. And so this is Dry Birth's latest gift to the world, but it's also a gift to them. If you're still reading this, I encourage you to download the album. It's pay-what-you-can so download it for free if you're broke. If you can spare a buck or two, please do, so that we can keep this machine running. Until we're down to our last cent, Dry Birth Records will continue its commitment to keeping alive music that is original and different. From punk to post punk to garage rock to acid rap to r&b/soul to emo. We will continue to seek out the in-between spaces especially. The music that doesn't fit neatly into genre specifications. We will continue to offer exposure and support to any and all artists that deliberately break the mold.
